Players will have the opportunity to complete missions/assignments, win battles, gain experience, and train while roleplaying here at Yamanegakure. You will be allowed to choose from an extensive list of unique jutsus and abilities to personalize your fighting expertise. Most importantly, you do not need staff approval to acquire them. The most you need is a willingness to grow.

As a new player you will start off with five free jutsu of your choosing, and a single ability to award your newly created character. These will be chosen from the list of jutsus and abilities provided in the Library section of the forum. In order to acquire more jutsus, one must merely meet the jutsu requirements listed below:
S - Rank Jutsu - 25 posts
A - Rank Jutsu - 20 posts
B - Rank Jutsu - 15 posts
C - Rank Jutsu - 10 posts
D - Rank Jutsu - 5 posts
In other words, in order to earn a D-ranked Jutsu of your choosing, you must train in a designated training zone by roleplaying your character practicing the jutsu through five seperate posts (minimum word count is 50). You will NOT need approval for this at any time. Once you are finished you may transfer the jutsu details, along with the link to your training thread to your character profile so that each other player knows that you legally own the jutsu. If you illegally add jutsu to your character profile with the intent of using it before you have purchased it, then this is considered godmodding and you will receive a warning. In addition, players will be cautioned to double check your profile before roleplaying with you.
Note: You may train for an S-rank jutsu at any point in the game. If you successfully complete the 25-post requirement actually training the jutsu, then the jutsu is yours.

Your character's experience will come from how many missions you have completed and how many battles you have won. Please note that Village Ranks and Power Ranks are seperate. Village Ranks are freely chosen at character creation. That is, if you are a new player and you would like to create a 23 year old Jounin, then you may. You may NOT however create a Kage, a black Ops, a medical ninja, a special jounin, or any other special ranked character.
Special Note: Village Rank does NOT affect your character's level of strength. A jounin may be easily beaten by an academy student if the student's Power Rank is much higher. The only trait that determines relative skill is the Power Rank!
For your Power Rank, you begin at D-rank and work your way up to S-rank by the following scale:
D-rank
C-Rank
B-Rank
A-Rank
S-Rank
S*-Rank
A D-rank level character has the strength of a typical academy student graduate. A C-rank character has the strength of a typical genin. A B-rank character has the strength of a typical chunin or a jounin. An A-rank character has the strength of a typical Jounin or Special Jounin. An S-rank character has the strength of a typical Special Jounin or Kage. An S*-rank character has the strength of a typical Kage or Legendary-type character. These ranks affect how your character compares to others in a fight. For instance, you can be an S-rank Genin and beat an A-ranked Jounin easily.
For your Village Rank, you may choose any one of the five jobs:
Academy Student
Genin
Chunin
Jounin
Rogue
All other special ranks are acquired through specific examinations, which will be held for each member at their request by a staff member. In order to apply for an exam, your character MUST have at least an A-level Power Rank.

In order to advance your character's Power Rank, you must complete missions, battles (including NPC battles and RP battles), and assignments. The system is simple. Missions will be assigned ranks, from D to S. You must complete a certain number of missions of your Power Rank in order to obtain a higher rank.
D - Rank Character - 0 Missions
C - Rank Character - 5 D-Rank Missions
B - Rank Character - 10 C-Rank Missions
A - Rank Character - 15 B-Rank Missions
S - Rank Character - 20 A-Rank Missions
S* - Rank Character - 25 S-Rank Missions
You may also win the same number of battles against another player or NPC to advance. Again, you must be honest here. Your account will be flagged if your profile is found to have an unsatisfied Power Rank-and other members will not be shy to check when you are fighting.
Note: If you are a rogue ninja, then you will be doing assignments instead of missions. These assignments will likely be against the village or unrelated to the village, as you will be embarking upon your own path.

Now that we have defined how your character will fight and grow, we should take a closer look at the all-important mission system. Missions are what give our characters a chance to earn experience out on the field. Training is no substitute for what can be learned on the front lines. That said, there are several ways to embark upon a mission...
You may create your own mission threads using this template:
You may not create a mission higher than your own Power Rank. However, you MAY embark upon a mission created by someone else of any rank of your choosing. There will be plenty of missions hanging around the forum, inside of the village, outside of the village, and all over. Some of them will be easy and others will be perilous. The missions that you find will be stated as either modded or not modded. That is, if you find a mission that is dubbed modded, then the moderator of the mission will post after you do, guiding the story and presenting to you the intended challenges. If you find a mission that is dubbed not modded (or simply doesn't say that it's modded), then you may freely post in that mission alone or with a friend, leading the story without staff supervision. The rules to doing this are simple:
In order to complete a mission of a certain rank, you need a certain number of posts. The requirements are as follows:
D-Rank Mission - 1 Post
C-Rank Mission - 5 Posts
B-Rank Mission - 10 Posts
A-Rank Mission - 15 Posts
Please Note: In order for a post to qualify, it MUST pertain to the mission. In addition, the final post must somehow bring the mission to a close. This system will NOT apply to S-Rank Missions. S-Rank missions and above will be found throughout the forum from time to time.
This system is designed explicitly for the player, so failing player-modded missions is entirely up to the player.
You may also join missions started by other players. If a mission is attended by two or more players, then each player must fulfill the full mission requirements to receive the full benefits.
